“Act of Kindness” Mission Accomplished! Over 1000 personalized greetings received for the Canadian Soldiers overseas in Kandahar, Afghanistan with beautiful children’s “Hero” artwork.
Held in the Royal Ontario Museum, people enjoyed viewing over 45 feet in length of beautiful “Hero” paintings created by children in the Toronto community. There were also great things to see and hear. Captain Bob Kennedy and Lieutenant Mark Timms of the Canadian Forces received the Hero Canvas Project on behalf of Soldiers in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The finest Pipe Major, Master Warrant Officer Iain Lang of the 48th Highlanders of Canada opened the ceremony with his incredible bagpiping. The very talented music band “Hello Beautiful” performed an acoustical set of their awesome music.
Over a two week journey, the Hero Canvas Project was transported on a National Defence military aircraft to Canada’s base at Kandahar, Afghanistan to be well received by the troops, with a special ‘Thank you’ letter from Lieutenant Colonel K.W. Horlock, Commanding Officer, Joint Task Force, Afghanistan Kandahar Airfield.
